Below is ANOTHER example of this again happening to me as a result of some punishment to be put on 28th street-- the punishment beach:

At one moment during my patrolling, I came to the water’s edge to ask if I could come in, in ankle deep water. But, I was in the water patrolling for 3 hours, performing my duties to the best of my abilities. I received no orders that were disregarded, and was not negligent. So I continued to do can until about 15 minutes before 5. The following day I was on 32h (the beach house). I waited about 15 minutes before Erich Wolf and Ryan Black interrogated me. They then asked me what happened and I told them I was on can through 12-1 and then again 2-5. For 3 hours again with no water and no sunscreen They yet again didn’t believe me and told me what Greg Carr said. I told them to ask other people who were on my beach to find out if what I was telling them was true. I don’t think they ever followed up with this. I was suspended for another day without pay for standing in ankle deep water and did not perform can duty correctly. This is absolutely not true but made up after hours of me being hazed on the job by a senior guard who did not like that he was called out on mistreating me.

Good beach. Not too crowded.

On July 12, I was on 28th street beach and my senior guards were (). I was requested by Greg and Jake to patrol the waters at 28th street beach. At around 12:00 I was asked by Jake If I wanted to do either 30 minute shifts or 1 hour shifts, I told him I wanted to do 1 hour shift. From 12-1pm I was in the water keeping people waist deep, traveling back and forth in the ocean from a.k.a can duty. From 1-2 A rookie was in the water. After her shift was over (a second year as am I) was up. He went over to the senior guard stand and then came back minutes later and told me I was supposed to go back in. I got ready to go in and went over to the senior guard stand and reminded them that I had taken my hour shift already and it was possibly another guards turn. Senior Guard got angry at me. From 2-5 I was in the ocean on can duty. Around 3 guard left for a rowing competition. Around 4pm I asked guard, the only senior guard at the time, by giving Greg a thumbs up-- asking if i was good to come in from the ocean and Greg shook his head no. So I continued to do can until about 15 minutes before 5. The following day I was on 32h (the beach house).

I believe that I performed my duties as requested, and feel that this suspension is in error.

Two life guards watching about 10 people directly in front of them. Talking to people and ignoring their duties. I wouldn't recommend putting my life in their hands.

After discussing This unfair treatment with Scott Wahl (business administrator) he ruled that I should be dismissed from my job on November 9, 2017 after waiting 3 months for them to meet with me and make a decision.

Beaches we're clean and just a very nice family oriented spot.

Not only is this suspension in error but I have been the subject of hazing and then retaliation for trying to protect myself from additional maltreatment by a senior guard. I have witnessed many cases of favoritism by certain guards and lieutenants alike who will pick and choose who gets a suspension for something and who doesn’t depending on the specific guard. I also have witnessed various acts of favoritism as to which guards will be sent to the punishment beach and mistreated and intimidated. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this with you and be able to perform my job without the fear of additional retaliation and intimidation and hazing.

On June 25 2017 A few lifeguards and I were driving home from our stationed beach at the end of the day. The following day (6/26/2017) Me were put on 32H which means the beach house. After about 25 minutes of waiting at the beach house they called us in one by one. I was first. Lieutenant Black, Lieutenant Kaiser, and Lieutenant Wolf were all around me. They asked what happened on the way home from my beach that day and I told them I was driving about 30, The same speed as the rest of the traffic and the rest of the guards. The Lieutenants didn’t seem to believe me and told me that I was driving about 50 and recklessly. There was no evidence that I was speeding or being Reckless. After that day , me, have been put on 28th street beach which is known as a punishment beach for second year guards. Three of the four of us were also given a suspension each of a day without pay. One guard was not given a suspension at all but he was with us in the same exact situation. This one guard was also not there after mistreated and hazed as a result of the senior guard's picking and choosing who to use for their intimidation. I was put for consecutive hours ( 3 hours, 4 hours) on can duty in the ocean without breaks for water or sunscreen, without changing up with another qualified guard to take a position in the water. Aren’t we there to protect the patrons that are swimming in the ocean? This was definitely not taught to put one lifeguard in the water patrolling the ocean for 3 and 4 hours at a time. This is a type of intimidation to try and make me quit this job. Upon notifying the senior guard of this treatment and asking how long one guard has to stay in the ocean consecutively (after 3 hours! ), the senior guard retaliated and wrote me up for a suspension for not performing can duty correctly. I told the Captain that this was absolutely not true. AND for HOURS I was kept in the ocean and performed this duty as expected and had become quite dehydrated and sunburned as a result of this treatment.
